In Poetry We Say
In English, we say I love you. In poetry, we say I trust you with my broken, bruised, scarred, fragile, beautiful soul.
In English, we say I'm sorry. In poetry, we say I didn't nurture us and will spend my seasons pruning, preening and pouring love back into our garden to watch it grow, not into what it was but into the new it can be.
In English, we say I am here. In poetry, we say I'm the hearth in your winter cabin, the spice in your mulled wine and the pillow in your bed.
In English, we say goodbye. In poetry, we say I feel you in the part of me that is you, somewhere between the blindingly brilliant and sweet silence.
